April 13, 2007 – The $50 Penguin EZ Pull Corkscrew
has to be the absolute coolest wine bottle opener gadget
I’ve ever seen! It’s another find from last month’s
International Home and Housewares Show, but I was fortunate
to have had the opportunity to evaluate one in advance.
Simply put, if you drink wine, you need one of these. If you
know anyone else who drinks wine (and who doesn’t?),
especially an enthusiast, this is the gift you will be
remembered for forever! Check this out.
The Penguin EZ Pull Corkscrew is a hit at Gadget Central,
otherwise known as my house. Had I not used it myself, I
would not have believed just how cool it is. And the
included foil cutter works simply and easily as well.
Place it over the bottle top, gently squeeze the
spring-loaded cutters against the bottle neck and give it a
turn. Now, just pull off the foil top, perfectly cut every
time. I like that the products are so simple to use
and almost magical in the result.
To uncork your wine, just raise the Penguin handle, place
the Penguin over the bottle top (after the foil is removed,
of course), hold it in place and lower the handle. This
automatically, effortlessly inserts the Teflon-coated
magnesium corkscrew "worm." Then, hold the body of the
Penguin while raising the handle. The cork is out! Yup,
it's that easy and that effortless.
The first time you use it, you'll not realize the cork is
out with such ease. No way, your mind will tell you, but you
will be pleasantly surprised. No gas, no special skills or
strength is required. There are no consumables to
replace. I tried it with natural as well as synthetic
corks. I asked colleagues to try it independent of me, and
I heard the same reaction. It was so easy as to not be
believed the first time it was used. You WILL look for
more bottles to open right away. What a kick!
This thing is nothing
short of amazing. It's the most perfect, most idiot-proof
cork extractor I've ever experienced and I cannot recommend
it more highly. What a great gadget that is easily worth
the price! Buy one and you'll agree. Why bother
with anything else?
The Penguin is new and starting to become more available.
Ask locally in your favorite wine specialty shop or check
online.
The product is distributed through
http://www.winethings.com so you can check there, not to
buy, but for a referral to where it might be near you, as
well as online referrals. As of now, I know they are
available through
www.hulaisland.com.
Google Penguin EZ Pull and see what pops up, but
remember, you want to get it for $50 or less!
I know you’re going to love this product! I’d make a
killing if I sold them. Instead, I’m going to buy
several and give them as gifts because I know no one who has
one (yet). The box it comes in is what I would call a
gift pack because it is so beautifully packaged.
